Day 23
30-day Online Course

Consider the Reptile

At the very root of your brain (although only halfway into the depths of your mind) is your reptile brain (brainstem). This brain is responsible for keeping you alive. It speaks in the language of physical sensations, which form the basis for your emotional reactions (mammal), which themselves are the basis for your thoughts and 'self' (monkey).

Reptiles are consistently calm and focused. They don't have the reactive mammal brain (notice that their mask-like faces are incapable of showing emotional changes), or the distractible monkey brain (observe their general fixed stare state).

You share these same traits, underneath your ever-busy younger brains. You will increasingly notice and enjoy your reptile as you keep taming and training your mammal and monkey.
